GRATE IT

This project was to design a product for a selected chef. We were asked to watch the show called Chef's Table on Netflix and choose our chef and design for his/her idealogy. We were required to do a thorough research of the background they belonged to and envision a design in fulfillment of his or her vision.

Gaggan Anand is the chef I chose for my chef’s project. Gaggan Anand is an Indian chef and the owner and chef of the word acclaimed Indian restaurant Gaggan in Thailand. Chef Gaggan Anand put Indian food in the fine dining spotlight. At Gaggan, Anand set out to redefine traditional Indian food with what he calls “progressive Indian cuisine”.

A grater is one of the main things which is responsible for adding that special charisma to a dish. But we all have been there where we might have wished for a little more toppings when the dish was served but just to embarrassed to ask, especially in a world-acclaimed restaurant. This premium grater on the restaurant table ties up very well for the user experience for people who would want to enjoy the food but also have the taste to their liking.

There are three attachments that come with the grater of various sizes and for more variety. Also to optimize the use of the attachments the chef could come up with dishes that could enhance the use of grater.

On the bottom part of the handle are the sharp thorns made of silicone with the tip being a sharp metal of around 2-3 mm each. They have been spread out variedly so it can grasp on the piece to grated tightly.

To secure the blades in place there is a magnetic plate attached in the back which gives it the extra sturdiness the blade needs
