LUMEN

This project brief was about researching the designer and understanding the ethos of the designer and making a product from the perspective of the designer. We were given 7 weeks to complete the project in which we had to manufacture an entire product with sufficient based research and should be able to reflect the designer.

Yves Behar was the designer I chose as I was really inspired by his work and his principle for good design. The idea of getting inspired by the London Eye was it was the first sight from his office in London. The inspiration matched with his SAYL chair project in which he was inspired by the Golden Gate Bridge, his view at his childhood home. Taking the same idea forward I had designed the LAYM. A lamp that can rotate the same way as the London Eye

The design concept of this lamp has been derived from the poetic device of the London Eye standing in mid-air. To connect with the design, the smooth movement of the round framework and the oval-shaped glass rooms was incorporated into the lamp.
